“From the First Through (Definitely Not) the Last: 10,000 Miles on My Himiway Cruiser”
Why do you ride your Himiway? Is it for the thrill of the road? For commuting to work? Or, perhaps, is because it is just so dang fun. For Ron Cohen, thrill and enjoyment was found in the very first mile. And the second, third, fourth…all the way up through his 10,000th mile on his Himiway Cruiser (yes, you read that correctly). While biking the equivalent mileage of riding from LA to New York 3.5 times, Ron has found that riding his Cruiser has become a pleasurable necessity. We had the opportunity to discuss this astounding accomplishment with Ron.
Q: How you became part of the Himiway community, and what inspired you to choose Himiway?
Over two years ago, I was looking to buy an ebike and started researching the available options. After doing extensive research, I discovered Himiway and was immediately drawn to their products. I joined the Himiway user group and have been an active member ever since.
I remember feeling incredibly excited when I first bought my Himiway bike. I spent countless hours researching and comparing different bikes, and the Himiway consistently stood out for its affordable price and impressive features. Q: What did you do to reach this milestone? Did you need to make any changes to your Cruiser along the way?
When I got my bike, I was excited to start riding it. It took me a while to get used to it, but once I did, I started to use it for commuting and running errands. I was surprised at how quickly the mileage added up. When I hit the 10,000-mile mark on Monday, July 25th, 2022, I couldn't believe it. I took a picture of the odometer and posted it on the user group to share my milestone with others.
Over the course of the 20 months I've owned the bike, I've learned a lot about maintaining it. I've had to replace the brake pads a couple of times, and I've changed out both tires. However, the chain is still the original one, which I make sure to keep oiled. To improve the bike's performance, I made two upgrades early on. The first was to upgrade to a 1000-watt battery, which made a big difference in how far I could go on a single charge. The second upgrade was to put a larger chain ring on the bike, which allowed me to pedal at a higher assist level and still get enough torque to keep going.
Despite the upgrades, the bike has been incredibly durable. The only thing that has slowed me down a bit is the weather, but I've still managed to get in about 20 rides a month, which is about two-thirds of the time. Riding the bike has been a great way to stay in shape, and I'm always getting a good workout when I use it. Overall, I'm really happy with my bike and can't wait to see how many more miles I can add to it in the future.
Q: We're interested in hearing about your experiences with your Himiway! How has it changed your life?
I do it mostly for cardio, but it's so much more than that. Riding my Himiway electric bike has become a crucial part of my daily routine. In fact, today (July 30th), I was cruising past a group of spandex-wearing bikers, feeling the wind in my hair and the sun on my face. It was exhilarating.
Before I discovered ebikes, I was just on a regular bike, but with my bad knees, I could never go very far. I have bone-on-bone issues in my knees, and it was a constant struggle to find a form of exercise that didn't cause me pain. But riding my Himiway has been a game-changer. I can go for miles without feeling any discomfort, and I love the feeling of accomplishment I get after a long ride.
And it's not just about the physical benefits. Riding my bike is a stress reliever for me. As a business owner with a lot on my plate, it's important to have an outlet for my thoughts and emotions. And being on my bike is the perfect way to clear my head and focus on the present moment. I've even come up with some of my best ideas while riding.
In fact, on the days that I don't ride, I don't feel as good. It's become such an important part of my self-care routine that I make sure to get my ride in every morning. And at 64 years young, I feel like I'm just getting started. I see people older than me out there riding regular bikes, and it inspires me to keep going. I want to be able to ride my bike for years to come.
So yes, I do it mostly for cardio, but it's so much more than that. It's about feeling alive, pushing myself to new limits, and taking care of my body and mind. Today, after a grueling hour-long workout on my Himiway, I returned home drenched in sweat but feeling more energized than ever. It's so much more fun than going to the gym or riding a stationary bike. I'm grateful to have found a form of exercise that brings me so much joy and fulfillment.
Q: What advice would you offer to fellow e-bikers or anyone interested in purchasing an ebike?
When I first hit 5000 miles on my Himiway ebike, I was overwhelmed with joy and excitement. I shared my achievement on Facebook, and it was humbling to see people tagging their friends and saying things like "Wow, look at this! This speaks to the incredible durability of this ebike." It was a moment of pride for me because my friends all know me as an e-biker, and they often come to me with questions about the best brands and models out there.
In fact, my knowledge and experience with ebikes has led me to meet some incredible people in the industry. I've had the pleasure of chatting with owners of ebike rental stores, and I'm always eager to share my thoughts on the best brands and models out there. And, of course, I always push Himiway.
It's been an amazing two years since I purchased my Himiway ebike. And as time goes on, I've come to realize that there are so many people out there who simply don't understand the incredible benefits of an ebike like this. They don't research it, and they end up spending thousands of dollars on other brands that simply don't measure up to the durability and quality of Himiway.
I've seen people spend five, six, or even $7,000 on ebikes that don't come close to the performance and reliability of Himiway. It's a shame, really, because if they took the time to do the research, they would see that Himiway is the clear choice for anyone who wants a long-range, high-performance ebike at an affordable price point.
All in all, I'm incredibly impressed with the quality and durability of Himiway, and I'm thrilled to see that it still holds its position as one of the best ebike brands on the market today.
