Speed, Freedom, and Adventure: Dan’s All-Terrain E-Bike Story

Oct 17, 2025

"My name is Dan Treece. I'm from Portland, Oregon. Pacific Northwest sports outdoor fan. I own a muscle car, and I like to drive fast. That's why I like to ride bikes, because it gets me my speed and that need for speed."

For Dan, life in Portland is about movement. It's about that rush when you accelerate, whether behind the wheel of his muscle car or pedaling through the city's bike-friendly streets. But what happens when you want that same thrill across deserts, beaches, and mountain trails?

Portland sits at the perfect crossroads of adventure—an hour to the mountains, an hour and a half to the desert, an hour and a half to the beach. For someone like Dan, who craves variety and speed, it's paradise. But traditional bikes have their limits.

"From where we're located, we can just pick something different we want to do each day or do both."

A Lifetime of Riding Meets Modern Innovation

Dan's been riding bikes all his life, but two years ago, something changed. He started exploring e-bikes, beginning with rental programs to test what was possible. The search wasn't just about finding any e-bike—it was about finding one that could keep up with his lifestyle.

His testing ground? Sun River in eastern Oregon, a biking community nestled in the high desert with both paved paths and rugged off-road trails. It's the kind of place that demands versatility from both rider and machine.

"Having the pedal assist but having all terrain tires so you can go not only on the street, but off road, on the beach, in the sand, in the mountains, over rocks. Having that high motor capacity so that you can do multiple terrain things—it takes a little more battery power to ride in the sand."

This wasn't just about recreation anymore. Dan discovered something transformative about having the right e-bike: it became a tool for his entire outdoor lifestyle.

When you're serious about outdoor activities in the Pacific Northwest, your gear needs to work as hard as you do. For Dan, an e-bike like Himiway D5 2.0 isn't just transportation—it's essential equipment.

"When we're outdoor, it's nice to be able to go and do just whatever you want, whether it's fishing, hunting, being able to add a trailer to this as well lets you pull your equipment with you."

Think about that for a moment. Heading out for a fishing trip? Load your gear on a trailer and ride to that remote spot cars can't reach. Going hunting? Your e-bike becomes a silent, efficient way to navigate the wilderness and—here's the game-changer—haul out what you've harvested.

"In the case of hunting, being able to pull out what you've harvested from the natural environment is very functional, and it's a great aspect of having an e-bike."

The Speed You Crave, The Versatility You Need

For riders like Dan, it's never been about choosing between power and practicality, speed and sustainability, adventure and accessibility. It's about having it all.

Whether he's chasing that adrenaline rush through Portland's urban trails, conquering sandy beaches, climbing mountain paths, or hauling gear into the backcountry, the right e-bike transforms every ride into an opportunity.
