When going outside, we can see that the streets in the cities are full of all kinds of vehicles, especially cars-yes, cars are our main daily transportation tools, such as commuting, going out, shopping, visiting friends and families ... In fact, bicycles can do everything that these cars can do. There are a lot of people who like to cycle in the United States, however, most of the people use it as a sport or hobby. Happily, in recent years, more and more people choose bikes or electric bikes to commute, which has focused many of its efforts on promoting bicycles as a means of transport. Especially after The League of American Bicyclists has designated May as the National Bike Month, May becomes the annual carnival month for cyclists.
Oh May, bicycles are the subjects of the celebrations! The purpose is to encourage people to ride a bicycle as a tool, if you change the way to get around, you will make a contribution to our environment as much as you can. Believe me, once you try, you will love this sport.
Bike month provides us with great benefits for our planet every year. If you commute or get around by car every day, you might as well change another different way---riding a bicycle to replace driving a car in this sunny May, which can ease the growing grid-lock amid COVID-19 at the same time. So all this sounds great, how do other countries do it?
Due to the prevention of some measures (such as keeping a certain distance with people), many people are unable to get around safely by taking public transportation. Therefore, some countries strongly advocate means of green travel such as cycling. Inspired by the expansion of bicycle lanes in the German capital Berlin, Milan government thinks that it’s an opportunity to provide a green and healthy way of getting around, and cycling is advocated as a commonly-used means of transport in people’s daily life. Milan will limit road space for cars, widen sidewalks, and increase the number of shared bicycles and electric scooters. Encouraging the public to get around by bicycle can make a big difference to alleviate the pressure of public transportation and road congestion, and thus reduce the risk of the spread of new coronavirus.
In recent months, lots of people cannot go to the gym, so how do we usually keep fit with maintaining a certain distance from others? Bicycling is certainly one of the best options. It can not only strengthen your body and make you healthier, but also make you feel happy and forget the troubles in daily life, which can reduce the risk of mental health problems. It must be said that it is really fantastic.
In addition, riding a bicycle outside will greatly reduce your time on the road. You don’t have to wait for a long time at an intersection, and you don’t worry about finding a parking space anymore. You even save a lot of expenses, such as gas money, parking fees, fines ... The most important thing is that it has contributed significantly to making the world a much healthier place to live. What you don’t know is that a person’s power is limited, but the power of the masses is mighty...As the saying goes well, "Many a little makes a mickle." Just ride it!
Come on, take your helmet, fully charge the battery, get your bag, ride your beloved bike, and step into May.
