Ready to ride? Here's the D5 2.0:
Suspension: Comfort for Every Joint
The D5 2.0 runs a complete dual-suspension system: 100mm travel RST GUIDE-26 in front and 130mm rear multi-link suspension. On potholed city streets, gravel paths, or forest trails, this setup absorbs impacts before they reach your back and knees — particularly valuable for seniors or riders with joint sensitivity who want to ride longer without fatigue.
The Nomad 2 pairs a 100mm front fork with a suspension seatpost. It handles moderately rough surfaces well but transmits more vibration from the rear wheel on truly challenging terrain.
Tires & Battery: Premium Components at the Same Price
The D5 2.0 comes equipped with Maxxis Minion FBF/FBR tires featuring EXO sidewall protection. These are the same tires trusted by serious mountain bikers, rated for up to 3,000 miles of use. The 720Wh Samsung/LG battery provides a slight edge over the Nomad 2's 705.6Wh pack.
The Nomad 2 uses KENDA puncture-resistant tires — capable and reliable, but without the premium reputation or extended lifespan of Maxxis.
Comfort: Built for Long Days in the Saddle
The D5 2.0's DDK memory foam saddle measures 260mm wide — among the widest in the fat tire category. Combined with the 0-60° adjustable stem, riders of different heights and preferences can dial in their perfect riding position. The full suspension eliminates vibration before it reaches the sit bones.
The Nomad 2 offers a standard comfort saddle with an adjustable stem. Comfortable for most riders, though the suspension seatpost does add some rear cushioning.
For anyone comparing options for the best fat tire electric bike, comfort can make just as much difference as power or range, especially on longer rides. The D5 2.0 stands out with its extra-wide memory foam saddle, adjustable riding position, and full-suspension setup. Together, these features help reduce bumps and vibration on pavement, gravel, and uneven trails, making it a strong choice for riders who value all-day comfort as much as performance.
Weight: When Lighter Matters
The Nomad 2 weighs 75 lb — 17 lb lighter than the D5 2.0's 92 lb. This makes a real difference when lifting into a truck bed or carrying up stairs. The Nomad 2 also supports 505 lb total payload versus 400 lb for the D5 2.0.
The D5 2.0's heavier frame is partly due to its robust full-suspension linkage. That extra weight translates to stability on rough terrain and descents.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is full suspension worth the extra weight?
For trail riding, gravel, or potholed streets — yes. The D5 2.0's rear suspension absorbs impacts that would otherwise transfer directly to your spine. Riders with back or joint issues particularly benefit. If you only ride smooth pavement, front suspension alone may suffice.
Which is better for seniors?
The D5 2.0's full suspension and 260mm wide memory foam saddle provide more comfort for longer rides. Both bikes offer step-through frame options for easy mounting. The Nomad 2 is lighter, which helps if you need to lift or maneuver the bike frequently.
Does the D5 2.0 work for heavier riders?
The D5 2.0 supports 400 lb total payload (rider + cargo). The Nomad 2 supports 505 lb. If you're a larger rider or plan to carry significant cargo, the Nomad 2 offers more headroom.
What about Apple Find My tracking?
The Nomad 2 includes built-in Apple Find My compatibility for location tracking. The D5 2.0 doesn't have this feature. If theft protection via smartphone tracking is important to you, the Nomad 2 has the advantage here.
