Sometimes, a bike becomes more than a way to get from one place to another.
For Teresa and her husband, their two Himiway D5 2.0 e-bikes became part of a deeply personal challenge—one that brought together family, determination, thousands of miles of riding, and support for a cause close to their hearts.
In August 2026, the couple took part in the American Cancer Society Cycle 300 Miles Challenge. Teresa set out to complete the official 300-mile goal on her Himiway D5 2.0 20", while her husband decided to go much further.
His personal target: 1,000 miles in a single month.
By the end of August, both had accomplished something they would remember for years.

The Riders and Their Himiways
Teresa and her husband ride two versions of the Himiway D5 2.0.
Teresa chose the Himiway D5 2.0 20", while her husband rides the Himiway D5 2.0 26".
And neither bike has spent much time sitting still.
Teresa has already ridden more than 1,000 miles on her D5 2.0 20". Her husband has logged more than 2,600 miles on his 26-inch D5 2.0.

Over those miles, the couple says their Himiways have proven to be strong, dependable, comfortable, and capable companions.
But August would put both the riders and their bikes through an entirely different kind of challenge.
Riding 300 Miles for a Cause
During August 2026, the family participated in the American Cancer Society Cycle 300 Miles Challenge, supporting the organization's mission to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families.
For Teresa, the goal was clear: ride 300 miles during the challenge.
And she did it.
Teresa successfully completed all 300 miles aboard her Himiway D5 2.0 20".
Her journey, however, became considerably more difficult after she was injured during the challenge. The injury required five stitches, and she also hurt her wrist.
She ultimately completed the final 34 miles needed to reach her 300-mile goal.
Only after completing the challenge did the family learn that her injured wrist was actually fractured.
Her recovery became the priority afterward. The couple had also been preparing to participate in the Five-O 100K Memorial Ride, a roughly 60-mile cycling event supporting Team Raleigh and the Raleigh Police Department Foundation, but decided not to participate this year so Teresa could properly recover.
Her 300-mile finish nevertheless remains an accomplishment the family will not soon forget.
From a 300-Mile Challenge to a 1,000-Mile Mission
For Teresa's husband, the American Cancer Society challenge carried an especially personal meaning.
Both of his parents passed away from cancer.
So while the official challenge called for 300 miles during August, he decided to set a much bigger personal goal:

1,000 miles in one month.
That meant averaging more than 32 miles every day for an entire month.
It was an ambitious target, but day after day, he kept riding his Himiway D5 2.0 26".
The miles accumulated.
Then 1,000.
By the end of August, his final total had reached:
1,064.4 Miles
More than one thousand miles in a single month.
For him, those miles represented much more than a number on an e-bike display.
They were miles ridden in support of a cause that had directly affected his family. They were also a test of determination—and of a bike that needed to keep performing day after day.
As he told the Himiway team:
“The bike performed day after day and mile after mile. It became much more than transportation or recreation.”
What 1,064 Miles Can Tell You About an E-Bike
Specifications can tell you a lot about an e-bike.
Real-world miles can tell you something different.
Completing 1,064.4 miles in August gave this Himiway rider the opportunity to experience his D5 2.0 across considerable distances and many different riding conditions.
And this wasn't his first thousand miles.
His D5 2.0 26" has now accumulated more than 2,600 miles in total, while Teresa's D5 2.0 20" has surpassed 1,000 miles.
For the couple, reliability isn't simply something written on a specification sheet. It's something they've experienced mile after mile.
“There are many e-bikes on the market,” he wrote to Himiway, “but after what we have experienced, our Himiways are truly one of a kind to us.”
Two Bikes, Two Riders, One Shared Journey
One of the most interesting parts of Teresa and her husband's story is that they completed their rides on two different versions of the same e-bike.
Teresa's D5 2.0 20" uses a compact 20-inch platform, making it approachable for riders who prefer a smaller wheel size and lower overall riding position.
Her husband's D5 2.0 26" provides the larger-wheel riding experience he prefers for his long-distance journeys.
Different riders. Different bikes. Different mileage goals.
But the same family journey.
Together, the two bikes have already traveled more than 3,600 miles.
And those miles now include one unforgettable August.
More Than Transportation
E-bikes are often discussed in terms of motors, batteries, range, suspension, tires, and speed.
Those things matter.
But rider stories sometimes reveal another side of what an e-bike can become.
For Teresa and her husband, their Himiways have been there for recreational rides, long-distance challenges, charitable efforts, difficult moments, and personal milestones.
The bikes became part of memories connected to family and to a cause that means a great deal to them.
Perhaps the best way to describe their experience is in their own words:
“For our family, the Himiway name is now connected with some very meaningful memories and accomplishments.”
And there was one final thought they wanted to share with us:
“Our two D5 2.0s have done far more than carry us from one place to another—they have helped carry us toward goals that have become very personal to our family.”
For us at Himiway, stories like this are a reminder that the most meaningful measure of an e-bike isn't always found on a specification sheet.
Sometimes, it's found in the miles—and in what those miles mean to the people riding them.
