If you want more range from your electric mountain bike, upgrading from a 625Wh battery to an 800Wh battery may seem like an easy solution. After all, an 800Wh battery stores about 28% more energy than a 625Wh battery.

However, battery upgrades on eMTBs are rarely as simple as choosing a larger capacity. In many cases, you cannot directly replace a frame-integrated 625Wh battery with an 800Wh battery because the larger pack may have different dimensions, mounting hardware, connectors, electronics, or software requirements.

That doesn't guarantee exactly 28% more riding distance because real-world range also depends on terrain, rider weight, tire pressure, temperature, speed, assistance level, elevation gain, and riding style.

What to Check Before Buying an 800Wh Battery

Before purchasing a larger battery, check your eMTB manufacturer's compatibility information or ask an authorized dealer to confirm:
